Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Jurnal Wacana Sosial Nusantara (Sosial) applies a double-blind peer review system to ensure academic quality and credibility. Every manuscript submitted will be reviewed by at least two experts with relevant competence. This process is intended to evaluate the originality, relevance, and scientific contribution of the work before publication.

The review process consists of several stages as follows:

  1. Submission
Manuscripts are submitted through the Online Journal System (OJS). For the convenience of authors, temporary submission via email is also accepted.
  2. Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial office checks the manuscript’s suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, as well as compliance with the author guidelines. Basic quality assessment, including methodological soundness, is carried out at this stage. All eligible manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin.
  3. Evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief determines whether the manuscript is sufficiently original, relevant, and of potential interest to the readership. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.
  4. Reviewer Invitation
The handling editor invites reviewers who have expertise in the subject area and no conflict of interest. This journal uses a double-blind system, meaning both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
  5. Reviewer Response
Invited reviewers confirm their availability and expertise. If they decline, they may recommend alternative reviewers.
  6. Review Process
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript in detail, providing constructive feedback and recommendations: acceptance, rejection, or revision (major/minor).
  7. Editorial Decision
The Editor-in-Chief and handling editor consider all reviewer reports. If the reviews are highly divergent, an additional reviewer may be consulted before a final decision is made.
  8. Communication with Authors
The editorial office sends the decision letter along with anonymized reviewer comments. Authors are expected to revise the manuscript according to the feedback provided.
  9. Revision and Final Decision
Revised manuscripts are resubmitted and may be re-evaluated by reviewers (for major revisions) or directly by editors (for minor revisions). Once the paper meets the required standards, it proceeds to copy-editing and publication.

The entire peer review process generally takes 2–4 weeks. Accepted manuscripts will be published online and made freely accessible in PDF format.
